Why It Happens

Northern California’s wet-season storms and foothill clay soils make runoff a real design problem: water sheets fast off compacted lots and saturated slopes. Clay doesn’t absorb water quickly, so a storm that a sandier soil would soak in becomes sheet flow looking for the first low point it can find — which is exactly the design problem CCS solves before it becomes your problem.

What’s the difference between retention and detention?

A retention pond holds water and lets it soak away; a detention pond holds it temporarily and releases it slowly. Which you need depends on your site and drainage report.

Do I need a storm water system for a smaller project?

Often, yes — even modest projects have to manage runoff and meet discharge rules. We’ll tell you what your site requires.

Can you fix an existing drainage or ponding problem?

Yes. We trace where the water actually comes from and redesign collection, conveyance, or grading to solve it at the source.

What pipe do you use for storm drainage?

Depending on size and load, HDPE, PVC, RCP (reinforced concrete pipe), or CMP (corrugated metal pipe). We match the material to the application.

Do you build the retention pond too?

Yes. Excavation, shaping, outlet structures, and stabilization are all part of our storm water work.
